DEEPLINER SPY-V JIG

The uniqueness of the Deep Liner SPY-V lies in its revolutionary behavior immediately after a rod jerk. Instead of an immediate, vertical, and fast descent that often spooks fish, the jig performs a Slalom movement, immediately assumes a horizontal position, and begins its Stop & Fall phase. This fall occurs at an exceptionally attractive rate, mimicking a falling leaf action. This prolonged horizontal flutter gives the perfect opportunity for nearby predators – which may not respond to aggressive, fast jerks – to confidently strike during the fall, where 90% of strikes in Slow Jigging occur.

Although the global range of the model extends to a vast variety of weights (up to 1500g for extreme depths), the jigs from the Deep Liner Slow-Skip series that we import are perfectly weighted for Greek conditions. They are extremely effective in areas with weak to moderate currents, as they can "stand" horizontally with fewer and softer jerks (Slow Jerks). Additionally, their finish is of top quality, with very intense colors and impressive holographic effects that reflect even the slightest trace of light. It is worth noting that the specialized color schemes S703, 56, and 24 feature strong phosphorescent (Glow) elements, offering unique visibility in great depths or in low light conditions.

PRACTICAL TIP

The Deepliner SPY-V is a highly specialized jig for Rock Fish (Groupers, Stone Bass, Amberjack) and also for large "red" fish of our region (Dentex, Red Snapper, Pagrus). The correct strategic use involves targeting two levels: You can work it in the upper layers of the fish zone, making a few sharp High-Pitch jerks to imitate a fleeing baitfish trying to escape a bait ball. Then, make a controlled pause (Stop) leaving your line slightly loose, so the jig begins its fantastic horizontal fall towards the bottom, provoking large predators lurking below. Because the jig does not include assist hooks in the package, we recommend rigging it with a double set of Assist Hooks (Twin Assist) both at the top (head) and at the bottom (tail). Choose hooks with a relatively short and stiff solid core line, so they do not tangle during the horizontal fall. For 100g-150g weights, a hook size of 1/0 or 2/0 is ideal, while for 180g and 250g you can go up to 3/0 or 4/0 depending on the brand, ensuring solid hooksets in the hard jaws of reef predators.
